(...my new addition)
i sold my beloved jeep back in january. i was sad to see her go, because she was my first grown up car, and the first one i picked out on my very own. before hand, i had driven things like: a sea-foam green ford escort; a hot-astro-blue ford focus hatchback (also referred to as the jellybean, cause it looked like that); an aqua-velvet teal nissan sentra, and a bland tan-taupe mercury sable, affectionately referred to as the titanic due to it's sheer size and noise in the snow. in 2007, when i bought the jeep, she was a welcome reprieve from seemingly-adolescent choices in cars, and felt like one of my first big choices. coincidentally, that was the year that i ran my first half marathon, traveled out of the country, and met my first long-term boyfriend. in short, it was the year of kaci the adult (and honestly, it's just gotten bigger and better since).
so what was i saying? oh yes. the jeep. sad to see her go. she had to go, cause she was just not in amazing shape. she was fine for the time being, but had some serious tune-ups coming up, and we got word from a friend that at 100k miles, the jeep libertys tend to sort of keel over and die. now, there was no evidence of that, it was just circumstantial stories, but... well, i am in no position to have a dead, or ill, car. so. i said goodbye to my silver jeep, and wished her good health and luck on the road ahead.
and we sold it.
it was a pretty easy process, and happened much quicker than we had anticipated. i was happy, the buyer was happy, and it turned out in the nick of time, because some of the proceeds helped pay a sizeable, and surprising, bill that came literally a day or two afterwards.
we then started the process of looking for a new car, and long story short, we found one!
here she is, folks, the newest addition to the jensen menagerie: goldie, the golden chariot!
so far, so great! she's got power locks and windows (my only real requirement), a 6 disc cd changer, all-time four wheel drive, a speedy lil v-6 engine, and (my favorite perk of all): a SUN ROOF!!! which, by the way, jola pants LOOOOOVES. i also bought a cheap (i heart ross) dog hammock for the back, which is essentially a large piece of canvas that hooks from the back of the drivers seats to the front of the back seats, hanging the canvas between to protect the seats from my lil pup. jola is loving it, because now she's not confined to the back trunk, and she can stick her head up close to mine and enjoy the breeze from the open sun roof.
bienvenidos ala familia, lil goldie!
