things i LIKE about having one foot:
(to the tune of 'Walking on Sunshine')
- great core balance
- fun rides to work with great people! plus the bonus of carpool
- a bona fide excuse to be lazy any time i want!!
- decorating a WAY cool cast with my sister!
- preferential treatment at the Pepsi Center
- i look way more hardcore than i am when i'm at the gym
- i get to see the niceness in people when they go out of their way to help me
- i've gotten to spend more time with my mom
- i am more organized, and pack way quicker for the day/weekends since i know i cannot forget anything
- i have gotten some great piggy back rides and met some cool people when they ask me what happened!
- i am able to dispel the myth that bunions are nasty old lady corns. they are BONE DEFORMITIES!
- no 'i-don't-want-to-walk-the-dogs' guilt
- i have to constantly ask for help for the littlest things- like glasses of water.
- friends that check on me and do things for me and send me things- because they want to. i knew i was loved, but the reality of that love is so amazing when it's demonstrated in such a physical way. so grateful-so blessed. that's a whole other blog waiting to be written...
- i've got rockin' triceps
- i'm getting good at knitting.
- my time with the Lord has improved so very much. it's like i have a new best friend!
- it's not forever. soon enough (2 weeks!) i'll be walking. and then before i know it, swimming! and then.... (drumroll PLEASE).... RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
things i am NOT liking about one foot:
(insert Jay-Z's 'Hard Knock Life' here)
- crutches after a long day. any gland that was once in my armpit is now, i'm positive, jammed somewhere deep in my shoulder joint
- this whole thing they call a shower stool. makes me feel OLD
- weird soreness in my knee from my heavy, yet AMAZING, cast
- peeling lil grape toes. yuck.
- no dogs. i miss their faces.
- i can't run.
- the cast/crutch/wheelchair combo did NOT get me in to locker room to have Nene and Birdman sign my cast
- snow+ crutches + coat + purse + gym bag+ lunch bag. what?!
- i get to see the lack of humanity in some people when they don't try to help me when i am needing the help... like the lady that stood, literally, in the middle of the aisle at the grocery store. really? please move over to one side, just for ONE second while i scoot by!
- i'm not able to go out and about when i have a crazy whim to do so.
- i have to constantly ask for help for the littlest things- like glasses of water.
- i can't clean my house very well.
- planning a whole weekend around seven clients in parker
Obviously, the good outweighs the bad! although you will not catch me complaining when i get rid of those crutches! only 14 more days!!
