in honor of love

(...a v-day craft to last all year long!)

my favorite: crafts and trashy tv
monday night was my monthly crafty night with my friend a. in honor of the amazing holiday coming up, valentine's day, she brought over a nice, fun valentine's craft. now, i haven't done much valentine's crafting this year, as i'm titch pre-occupied (hi, weddings, anyone?!) so i was very happy to do something lovey for craft night. i loooooved her craft idea (painting wood letters and gluing them on canvas- so ingenious and simple!) and although i love, love, love valentine's decor, it really can only be used a few days out of the year, without looking ridiculous and pink. and because i wanted to enjoy the finished product all year, not just during my yearly love-fest in february, i decided to go a little less v-day, and a little more everyday. and i tell you, it took all the restraint in my little body to not throw up pink and purple and yellow and flowers and hearts all over the project. but i did it.

i chose to do a gray background, and yellow/navy/white/gray letters. my vision was to hang this up in the living-room-to-be, once i move into his house this summer. we've sort of decided on a neutral pallet for the living room, focusing on a tan-ish couch and blue-ish walls, so i thought this could be a cute accent. we'll see if he actually lets me hang it up :)

side note/crafty fact of the day: the voice, albeit not a great show in general (sorry all you voice fans!), is fabulous craft night television! it's just entertaining enough to fill the space, audio enough to listen to without watching and still get, and trashy enough that you can criticize the contestants and judges to your heart's content. way better than dancing with the stars, i must say. i mean, for craft night. :)
