...and checkin it twice!
as of late, my life is full of lists. which, by the way, i'm not complaining about, but it's amazing how many things require lists: weddings, birthdays, christmas.... i actually love lists, and use them as an anti-anxiety tool when i feel there are too many things going on. sometimes, i make lists of things i know i am going to do no matter what (wake up, shower, etc), just so i can cross them off and feel accomplished! in fact, i think i could come up with a list of blog posts i've made, about lists. but i'll spare you...
christmas lists are the easiest- and most fun!- lists to make, and give. i've enjoyed pulling a list of christmas gifts together for friends and family this year. especially since many gifts will be handmade, it is a good way to organize myself and keep track of who gets what and what i need to get on top of! i also love getting other people's lists, and coming up with a gift that is actually not on it, but should be :) and of course, it's fun to make my own list of wants to share with my family; however, it's inevitable that after i send my list, i think of about 4 other things that i'd like to include. i never send those extra four in actual list form, but send lots of ESP vibes about the new additions, in case my family needs more ideas :)
birthday lists are fun too. my birthday always falls on the fourth day into the new year (every. single.year. go figure), so it's always a good time to throw a laid-back get-together to wind down the holiday season and have one last party with no agenda- just fun. and sometimes cake! this week, i've had the fun pleasure of pulling together a list of birthday party invitees and handing it over to him, who is going to actually do the inviting and planning of my (gulp) 30th birthday. (side note, i'm sure my 30th birthday will come with it's own set of lists- with headings such as, 'how to prevent wrinkles', 'how to care for yourself in your old age', 'what to do when your memory fails you'. stay tuned!).
and then there are wedding lists. wedding lists are a beast of their own. so much so, that the first day back to work after our engagement, my friend gave me (i kid you not) two whole books of just lists that a bride should have when planning a wedding. and now, i have a list of lists: from the invite list (which has lists inside the list) to budget list to expenditure list to beauty list to decoration list to dj list to potential honeymoon lists to... you name it, i have a list for it. when i signed up on the dreaded knot.com (in hopes to have a comprehensive list of lists), they produced for me, automatically, a to-do list- which (one week into engagement) contained 187 to dos. and guess what? 63 of them were already overdue (so much for aiding my anxiety!). while i do love the list of lists, i can't lie and say it didn't overwhelm me- cause it almost made me throw up in my mouth a bit. but now that i've checked many things off, it's much less daunting and more manageable, and, dare I say it, helpful! (although i still manage to stay off the knot as much as possible).
oh- and guess what else has a list? craftiness!! to get onto the new (and apparently awesome) website pinterest, you have to be put on a WAITING list. lucky me, i know a few awesome chicks out there, one of which (whom?) specially invited me and allowed me to skip the wait list.... (i think that's what happened. i'm too busy managing my other lists to have even visited this website yet).
so there you have it. another list about why i love lists. and when you're wondering why my blog isn't updated, just imagine me bent over a sheet of paper, making a list of my lists of lists.
