(..can't blame me for trying)
remember that one time when i told you i was only good at growing things in pots?
well, i didn't mean to, but i lied.
i am now growing things, at an exponential rate...
see below for proof of my progression:
exhibit a: look closely and you can see two planters full of geraniums, marigolds and petunias. which, btw, i planted about two weeks ago and they are still alive, to this day (june 29, 2011). you can also see, to the left, a lilly bulb that has grown and is thisclose to flowering. this lil guy made it all the way from dahlia, so i'm impressed with him.
exhibit b1: again, look closely... there is a vine, two lavendar bushes and three sections of a ballerina rose bush (which is not your typical rose bush). two weeks later, they are still alive (only one section of the roses have died) and i am faithfully watering.
exhibit b2: no picture for this (i don't want to bore you too much), but i have added some catmint, verbena, and even an evergreen baby tree (all needing similar dirt, sun, and watering schedules) that are still alive. they are one week and counting.
exhibit c: again, there actually is no picture here, buuuuut my seeds that i planted are all germinated, sprouted, and grown into actyal FLOWERS. there are african daisies, some lil poppies, and other random (yet to flower) green things that continue to grow. also faithfully watering these.
exhibit d: my favorite, and most powerful, persuasive piece of proof that there is a green thumb, somewhere in there.... these flowers (that i arranged!) all came from my lil' backyard flowering plants. that's right. i.grew.these. (and gave them to his dad for father's day).
i liked them so much i gave you two pictures.
to further add to the black-to-green transition, i have transplanted all my lil' mini pots (where i sprouted parsely, daisies, zenias, and some other things) into larger, bigger pots. they are not dead yet. (although i did transplant a giant aloe plant and leave it in the sun, and i think i killed it). also, a girl from bible study came over last night and planted two huge mullen plants/weeds in a section of the garden, obviously trusting that i won't kill them. and she gave me the sprouted cucumber plant her and her roommate had been working on as well.
in conclusion, i think there is hope to come for my lil thumbs... and as my garden envy grows with every dog walk, i have now decided i am going to actualy plan out my garden planning for next year (like on a drawing, all mapped out), so that when it's time to plant, i know what i'm doing. and i'll chalk this year up to just building faith in myself, and my thumbs.
(i didn't grow these, but he gave them to me and they are flowers and i kept them alive and they are pretty).
The roses are amazing!!!!
