(...the literary genius lyrics to lady gaga's 'poker face')
funny to me how important little words are in life... for instance: yesterday, we got in this huge shipment of pens that i ordered like forever ago. pens really are just pens, no biggie, but these were emotionally-loaded pens: at work we had 'discussed' (aka fought really nicely and passive-aggressively) about what they should say and look like. i was the one spending the money and got the ultimate say, so i stood up for what i wanted, which was a turn from the norm. the pens came in yesterday, and although i loved them and was very pleased with how they turned out, i had a small tinge of bitterness attached to them, knowing that they caused such a ruckus. however, when i distributed a few to the two or three ruckus causers, and the main one mouthed the words 'i.love.these.pens' in a staff meeting, and gave me a wide-eyed nod of approval, all bitterness vanished and i felt like a million dollars.
or take for instance on my birthday, i rolled over at five am to silence my phone alarm, saw i had email and checked it (anything to not get uop), and it was not one but two birthday emails from my dad, i couldn't have been more surprised, and happier. not only did he remember the actual day, but he took time to send two communications to me to tell me! then my first birthday text from the ex-bearded man, and my first brithday call from my sister, whom i had last seen at our knock down, drag down, f-bomb dropping fight. all three of these things melted my little heart and spoke volumes of love to me.
little words can mean a lot. i remember being in relationships and hearing the words 'i love you' for the first time, or the other night, in that sister fight i just had, baby sister said just two or three words that stung my heart and rocked my world. words are so powerful and so easy to utter. it amazes me the power we yield without even thinking of it.
especially when we write songs with the main words: mum mum mum muh. what do you think lady gaga is really saying?
that looks like a whole bunch of mums!
