(...not to be single)
last sunday, in the span of three hours, i got news that two people i know (or know of) got engaged to be married. this week, my friend enchelleada counted 12 of her friends that are pregnant. i spent the past monday lamenting with my sister about wedding rings and long term relationships. the week before that, i emailed an old ex to casually say hi, and he responded with (a lot of unnecessary) words of his current relationship. and if you read yesterday, i made a fool of myself with bearded man.
all of these things make it not so easy to be single, but are totally do-able. they are life, plain and simple, and for the most part, don't bother me at all. unless, of course, it's this time of the year. you guessed it...
christmas card season.
i will tell you a secret: not much will make you feel more single than picking out christmas card pictures of yourself... debating whether you want to send one large, solo snapshot (which feels egotistical and like i'm sending everyone a self portrait); a few, smaller snapshots (which feels like a multitude of egocentricity and an homage to yourself); and of course, the age-old, single-person question: do i include my dogs? (which makes me feel like a modern day/hipster cat lady wannabe.)
(not to be confused with neighbor kasey, across the street, who owns cats. and is alone).

i debated about doing photo cards at all, but store bought cards are not really my style, i didn't have time or energy to make my own, and the photo ones can be so fun and easy (i didn't even have to leave my desk, they were literally delivered to my door)!
so, i settled in and decided to embrace the singleness that is me, and ordered away. plus, my dear friend court gave me a 50% coupon. it would have been stupid to not go with the photo cards... right?
without further ado, my virtual christmas card for all my friends, loved ones, and of course, YOU!
(oh, and my dogs- they made the cut. just in case you were wondering.)

i also really liked that in 3 of 4 pics i was outside and hiking. made the dog shot-out a little less lonely, and more outdoorsy. i hope :) |
