(... i just felt the need to craft)
(...felt, get it?)
craft number one: dressin' up the Yeti (aka, my hair).
three white felt roses and two leaves i added to a regular ol' headband, and pulling wet, un-done hair back into a messy bun. voila! festive and easy! i was on my way out of the house one night for a holiday party and needed some festive and fun headwear. this was the end result, and it took about five minutes!
i'm in love with the felt roses these days. well, really, just felt in general... (see below). it's cheap (a quarter per sheet) and easy to work with. felt + hot glue= endless possibilities!
craft number two: dressin' up my lovely holiday love (aka a christmas card holder).
i needed something to put all my christmas cards on (yes, all FOUR of them) and couldn't get the idea out of my head. originally, i wanted to do a felt stocking type thing where you pin the cards on it, but i couldn't find inspiration to create that. instead, i went to the thrift store and found a cool frame ($1.99), spray painted it black with paint i already had, then found some fun red and green ribbon ($1.99 per roll, then 50% off!) and some mini clothespins (found in the 'unfinished wood' section, in 'crafts' in the craft store, in case you're looking)... then i tied the ribbon around the frame and the pins, and pinned the cards up! i ended up adding more ribbon ties to the bottom (in case i get more cards. you know, miss popular here), and then hanging the frame on the wall where a (similarly framed) black mirror usually hangs. i think it's quite freakin' adorable. (AND re-usable! once the holidays are over, i can change out the ribbon to white or aqua, and put pics of my favorite people in it, and hang it in my room.) love. craft number three: dressin' up the front door (aka yet another wreath).
blog-inspired wreath (inspiration found here) for post-Christmas cheer. i think i'm slowly becoming addicted to front door wreaths. i started with just white felt, then added a few blues and reds to bring the wintery fun in. so far, i'm pleased with it, although i have lots more felt to cut out, and lots more pins to buy. oh, and lots of damage to undo. i woke up this morning and myla had pulled about half of the little felt rosettes right out and strewn them under the coffee table. it's like she wanted to craft with me or something! (also please note my cute pajama bottoms, so cozy and soft, and perfect for a crafty night in).
Cute, cute, cute!! Aren't the holidays THE BEST for crafting? I love it.
ReplyDeleteI also love how cheap felt is. AMAZING!
